Get Out Of Jail

Contact David Hunter, Texas Bail Bonds Lawyer

I am David Hunter, an experienced Texas bail bonds lawyer and former Texas judge. I represent clients accused of misdemeanor and felony crimes in Harris County and Ft. Bend County, Texas. When someone is arrested, the Court generally has two choices in cases where bail is an option. It can release the accused on his or her own recognizance or require the posting of bail. In some cases where the bond amount is too high, we can persuade the Court to lower the amount.

Making Bail in Harris or Fort Bend Counties

In most situations, the quickest way to get someone out of jail is by posting bail, which can be done in two ways.

  1. You can post the entire amount of the bond in cash yourself. However, the County retains a small administrative fee, and it may take awhile to get your money back after the case is resolved. If the accused fails to show up in court, you will lose all of your bail money.
  2. The second and most common way is using a professional bondsman. The bondsman has entered an agreement with the County that guarantees the appearance of the accused at all future court dates. The bondsman charges a fee for his services.

In Harris County, I recommend John Burns with Burns Bail Bonds located in downtown Houston, TX at 609 Houston Avenue. Call 713-224-0305 before you go so that you can be sure that you have everything you will need to make bond. You will need to bring your current Texas Driver’s License or Identification Card. Burns Bail Bonds accepts checks, cash, and all major credit cards.

In Fort Bend County, I recommend Bill Benton at ABC Bonding, who offers a discount to my clients. ABC Bonding is located across the street from the jail at 1612 Ransom Road. If you call ABC Bonding at 281-342-2728 before you arrive, everything is generally ready by the time you get there. You must also be able to show a valid Texas Driver’s License or Identification Card.
